FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY

WHAT IS FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY?

Forensic psychology deals with the interface between the legal system and the mental health system. Forensic psychologists bring psychological knowledge to bear on legal processes. This may involve work in the criminal or civil jurisdictions.

Dr Guha has a comprehensive understanding of the forensic system in Victoria and has expertise in working with those who present with complex clinical needs (such as diagnoses of serious mental illness or personality disorders) and have histories of engaging in offending behaviours which may harm other people.

Dr Guha has expertise in providing reports for court purposes in relation to Verdins and sentencing principles; and has provided reports for the Magistrate and County Courts and the Adult Parole Board in Victoria.

She has been trained in a suite of formal forensic risk assessments and provides assessment, report writing, and intervention services for the following issues

  • General violence

  • Sexual violence (including the use of child exploitation material)

  • Arson

  • Intimate partner violence

  • Stalking

  • Threats

  • General offending (e.g., drugs, theft, driving charges)

  • Victims of crime work (e.g., VOCAT reports)

Dr Guha has capacity to complete private forensic reports.

Referrals are accepted from legal counsel only and enquiries can be made via the contact form.

Dr Guha also provides treatment to people who have engaged in offending behaviours.
